EotW: Beans and Chocolate

While I’d like to say I’ve been eating healthy lately, I really haven’t. A couple salads here or there and some fruit can’t make up for what’s been making up most of my meals these days: Mexican food and chocolate. Oh well, I’m young… Right? You only live once, and all that.

For about a week I was addicted to Safeway’s pomegranate italian soda. It’s ridiculously expensive as far as soda goes (hence the addiction lasting a whole week), but its tastiness more than makes up for it. We drank it one night when I made tostadas for the fam and– whew– what a combo!

My friends Jim and Chritsina have been having almost weekly gatherings at their house to play Munchkin and stuff all who attend full of cupcakes and beer. Chrits just got her paws on Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, and it’s certainly taken over the Lewis Residence, at the very least!

I’m ashamed to say that it takes every bit of my will to resist dunking my face in that sweet, vegan buttercream frosting. I will admit to dunking a tortilla chip in on the sly. It was tasty.

A giant bag of M&Ms has been lingering around the house ever since Lindy’s bridal shower. I’m most weak to the beck and call of temptation when I’m playing WoW… Which I’ve been doing a lot lately.

I went to a birthday BBQ earlier this week and contributed fresh cantaloupe and roasted potatoes, based off of VeganYumYum’s recipe. My version isn’t vegan, but it’s super yumyum!

I even ate chicken this week! In my defense the only main course alternative at the BBQ were Boca burgers, and these days I’d rather eat an animal product that’s less processed than a vegetarian version that’s crammed full of junk.
This is also the rationale I used when I switched back to real butter vs. vegan margarine. I just get such satisfaction when I look at the label and see “cream, salt” and nothing else.

Wouldn’t've been a birthday party without everyone eating cake ‘n’ ice cream till they tipped over.
Oink, oink!
