Busy as a Vespiquen

I have been so busy these last few weeks that I don’t even know where to begin! As soon as April started I had one thing after another, business and pleasure all intertwined with each other. Needless to say I’ve fallen behind on blogging all of it but I’ll get everyone up to date bit by bit as soon as I can.

These photos are from last week when Ben was in town practically every other day. We got some serious Worms and Tetris DS action in to make up for not having seen each other the whole month of March.

And now, this week, we have friends from New York in town, Chris’s birthday party in the park, and lots of work for me to catch up on!

I love all the excitement but I find myself hoping May will be a little quieter. :)

Only The Boring Get Bored

While sitting in our living room this afternoon I took a glance at our little side table, which is always stacked full of library books, video games and decks of cards. Another picture waiting to happen.

Although it’s never this precarious, of course. I definitely abused my artistic license for the sake of getting “the shot,” which included waking Felix up from a nap in his cat-bed so I could place him just so in the papasan. You should see the shot from when he decided he didn’t want any part of this little photo shoot!

As I was setting this all up, I thought of that old saying and wondered when the last time I was ever bored.

Feed the Birds

The reason for this post is two fold… Or two-and-a-half fold.

First, I wanted to share these photos of some pidgeys I took at a MAX station earlier today. I love the expressions on so many of their faces. My favorites are the ones that look like their head is just completely empty. “DERT!” is the sound effect I’ve been giving them.

Second, I wanted to note that the title isn’t a Mary Poppins reference, but my way of advertising the new high-five, as invented by Nathan Fillion (whom I’m officially declaring my undying love for right here, right now). I haven’t gotten to test drive it out yet, but I laugh every time I think of it.

So, the next time you want to give props to someone and go in for a high-five, think again, old hat! Show some respect for the king of my heart and feed the birds instead.

Wizard’s First Rule

Chris checked Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind out of the library a bit ago and it’s due back tomorrow, so this whole last week was frantic with the thought of going back on the wait list. It seems to be a popular series– and with good reason. If you’re a fan of fantasy, I highly recommend this book.

Last night I stayed up way past my bedtime and finally finished it! A whole day and a half ahead of schedule, at that.

Now I get to fully indulge myself in the first season of Legend of the Seeker until I get my mitts on the second book in the series. Wait lists be damned!

Take Your Protein Pills and Put Your Helmet On

Friday afternoon my older brother rode a train into Portland from California and we’ve been trying to treat him to all the best attractions ever since. His geekiness surpasses my own, so one of our first stops this weekend was Ground Kontrol, a barcade on NW 5th and Couch.

I had a bit of luck, too– a few of the games I went to play had quarters in the machines, or games that had been abandoned, etc.

This New Year’s Eve they’re having a free play night starting at 5pm, with a cover charge of $15. I’m 90% sure we’re going, if only so I can have the chance of getting past the first level of Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins. That game has always eluded me, it’s so damn hard!
