Brogue-n Hearted

I bought these shoes yesterday at Goodwill and they’re just a touch too big. I’ve gotten more than one recommendation to wear thick socks with them, or to get inserts put into the toe but I’m mostly worried I’ll look like Ronald McDonald if I dare wear shoes I know are too big!

There are a couple more shots on my Flickr (here and here) and, like I mentioned over there, at least they’re nice to look at. :)

Happy Friday everyone!

Okay, I Lied…

I was recently bestowed a very generous giftcard to Ross, which everyone who knows me knows it’s like my own personal slice of department store Heaven. It also happens to be across the street from where I work– perfect!

The other day I went in with Chris and we came upon this Buddha mug. Given my recent dishware bender, I was too timid to suggest we buy it. Luckily Chris liked it so much he asked if we could get it. Perfect!

It’s quickly becoming my favorite mug for tea. No more second infusions or refills! And you know a cup is huge when it looks big even in Chris’s hands.

(P.S. Chris is laughing because he had a baseball game on and I had to keep telling him he wasn’t allowed to crane his neck to watch the game while I took his picture. Hah!)

Literally, my whole face can fit inside this mug.

That’s my kinda cuppa!

She Lives, Dreams and Creates…

As I was heading down the stairs on my way to work yesterday I noticed a big huge box in the hallway with my name on it. It was my *emera camera bag.

I was so excited and so mad at the same time. Mad that I didn’t check earlier to see if it had arrived, and excited that I could finally stop throwing my huge camera into a tiny purse with back-breakingly thin straps. And not only that, but I can carry other things with me now, too! Extra lenses! Moleskine! Gameboy! Seriously, why didn’t I save up for this sooner?

This morning I made a special trip to the market for a test drive. It is amazamazing. This camera bag is not only comfortable and fashionable, but durable, too. There is nothing cheap about it, which includes the price tag, but believe me when I say that it is worth so much more.

Most of all, I love that I can now go out and shoot without toting around a squishy, silver bag that looks more like a lunchbox than a camera bag.

Thank you, Nathiya!

The Last Ones Ever

Well, this is the motherload– the results of my tableware shopping spree. My mother was kind enough to remind me that this is a deep seeded habit of mine, a demon that I’ll likely never chase away for as long as I live.

But at least my kitchen will always be awesome. :)

From L to R:

100% recycled glass mug (Starbucks, $4.95)
6-piece blue tinted glass cups (IKEA, $4.99)
Ceramic pineapple mugs (Re-Run, $1 each)
2-piece stoneware plate, salad bowl, cereal bowl and cups (IKEA, $5.32 altogether)
White vases with nubs/divots (IKEA, $1.99 each)
Zelda potion bottle (Goodwill, $1)
Glass vase with nubs (IKEA, 79 cents)
Glass carafe (IKEA, $7.99)
Green tinted glass bottle (Goodwill, $2).

Grand Total: $33.02

These cups were the grand finale. After I’d already promised Chris “no more!” we went on a walk to Re-Run and they had a whole shelf full of temptation. I only got two, but there were at least 10– the rest are probably still there if any fellow Portlanders feel like snatching them up!

My addiction isn’t the only serious problem on my hands, either. I now have the grueling task of figuring out where to put everything!

Match Made in Heaven

Coffee…

And cinnamon rolls. Any questions? ;)

All right, I’ll admit it– I made myself a cup of coffee and ate this cinnamon roll at 5:30 pm today just so I could take these photos in the setting sunlight.

Starbucks launches its spring line of merchandise this week, so I brought this 100% recycled glass mug home for $5. It’s super thick and a bit weighty, with a perfectly subtle green/blue tint.

Since I went to IKEA for the first time yesterday (!) I promised Chris this would be the last mug I bought forever. But then we went to Re-Run this afternoon and I found two more cups I “couldn’t live without.”

Anyone else have this disgusting addiction to tableware?! Look forward to a post about all the spoils of my bender later this week. It’s gonna be a doozy.
